Masao Iwagami

Graduating from the Univ. of Tokyo in 2008 and working as a juniour/seniour resident for 4 years in Japan, I decided to learn more about epidemiology and medical statistics as a nephrologist. I got Master of Public Health at the Univ. of Tokyo (I was involved in big data research on acute kidney injury using Japanese Diagnosis Combination Database) and then MSc Epidemiology at LSHTM. Luckily, I met wonderful academic nephrologists, Dr Dorothea Nitsch and Dr Laurie Tomlinson, so that I could start my PhD in 2015. My PhD topics include identification of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in primary care data, association between CKD and severe mental illness, and adverse outcomes of antidepressants among patients with CKD.
